In an attempt to demistify the information and capabilities surrounding ultra-low emission vehicles, here are the vital stats for vehicles that currently qualify for the plug-in car grant.
More hybrids are available to fleets beyond the list below, but to qualify for the Government grant, cars must have a CO2 output of less than 75g/km and a minimum pure-electric range of 10 miles.
What’s great about the vehicles listed here is that there is a massive range of choice for fleets to look at – from city cars to electric super saloons.
We’ve chosen the entry-level trims on each model to represent a base price for fleet customers looking to add ULEVs to their fleet.
While adoption of ULEVs is increasing in the fleet (see page 1), the industry needs to do more to explain all the details surrounding these vehicles. Some information was easy to come by, but it was surprisingly difficult to track down a definitive pure-EV range or charge time on many vehicles.
There are also some caveats worth noting related to the quoted range for each car. Like mpg, an EV’s electric range can be affected by the style of driving, the load it is carrying and even the air temperature, so all pure-EV range figures need to be taken with a pinch of salt.
There are also a variety of charging options available for the vehicles in this list, so we decided to include the slowest possible charge time and the fastest for each vehicle for simplicity.
