At the end of last year, Volvo added a new Business Edition trim level to the V70 range in a bid to attract more user-choosers. The model gains satnav and Bluetooth plus an uprated audio system at the same entry-level price as the previous ES version it replaces.
While lower down the engine range the CO2 outputs are attractive (starting from 119g/km for the D2), the 215hp D5 auto comes in at a fleet-unfriendly 164g/km. But if this doesn’t take it off the choice list then the lower pricing compared with similarly equipped rivals brings the Volvo firmly back into play.
The interior is typically Volvo and a much more interesting place to be than that of German rivals. The fit and finish together with the materials quality is also impressive and, together with an overall feel of solidity, is one of the main reasons for picking the V70, even if rivals are more efficient and a better drive.
