User-choosers will have another stylish family sports saloon to consider from late summer 2013 when the Infiniti Q50 launches in the UK.

The Q50 will offer Infiniti’s first CO2-competitive diesel in the form of the 170hp 2.1-litre units sourced through Nissan parent company’s co-operation with Daimler, offering offer emissions of just 114g/km.

Full pricing will be announced later in the year but expect them to be in line with German premium rivals but with much more equipment, including technology like the Direct Adaptive Steering, Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection and Active Noise Control that cancels out intrusive low-frequency noise for greater cabin ambience.

The Japanese firm is also claiming class-best wheelbase for “spacious rear accomodation”. There will also be a 145g/km hybrid version, using a 364hp 3.5-litre petrol engine combined to electric motor.
