It may be new to our fleet, but the i40 has already done the rounds in the BusinessCar office and, despite the impressive economy, space and comfort, the hottest topic of conversation is its radio.
It isn’t even a DAB, so technically, there’s nothing special going on. The styling, however, is pretty special. Push the radio button and an old-fashioned tuner appears on the infotainment screen. It’s very retro and popular with all who use it, because this sort of thing is lost on modern digital readouts.
There is, though, also a common gripe, which is the absence of a clock display when the radio is on the preset stations screen. That seems to be its default setting, so unless you start to take your eyes off the road and cycle through the other available screens, you haven’t got the time to hand. I’ll admit that it’s a petty hang-up, but it’s an inconvenience that most other cars don’t suffer from.
