Our Scenic carries the moniker ‘Grand’ due to its additional row of seating over the standard model.
When not carrying passengers, these two extra seats double up as the boot floor. They can be raised independently of each other – a simple pull on a red tab does the trick – and are as easy to lower as they are to lift.
According to Renault, the third row offers 842mm of headroom and 102mm of knee room, making it “the most spacious seven-Seat compact MPV on the market for third-row passengers”. The French brand also claims that “two adults 1.75m (5ft 9in) tall can be comfortably accommodated in the rearmost seats thanks to their segment-leading position, and the provision of footwells”. However, having sat in the back I think Renault may be overstating that claim a tough, although admittedly I am an inch or so taller than 5ft 9in.
