Hyundai has unveiled its i40 saloon, which will be available in October.

It follows on from the i40 estate, which was shown at the Geneva motor show earlier this year and will be on sale first, arriving in June.

The car will compete in the upper medium sectors against rivals including the Mazda 6, Ford Mondeo and Toyota Avensis.

It is expected to use the same engines found already across the range, including a 1.7-litre CRDi with 136hp or 115hp. When fitted with Hyundai’s BlueDrive system including stop/start, CO2 emissions for the 136hp version drop from 124g/km to 119g/km.
