A real-time GPS speed camera alert system, called Mini Coyote V2, which uses a constantly updated database of fixed and mobile camera locations along with live updates from Coyote users, has launched in the UK.
The system, which costs £185 including three months’ service subscription (and £89 annually thereafter) also displays the vehicle’s actual average speed through SPECS-monitored average speed camera zones such as those found in motorway roadworks.
This database is supplemented by a live community of users, who can alert other Coyote subscribers to new fixed and mobile camera locations in close proximity by touching a button. It also alerts to school and high-risk zones, plus congestion charge entry locations.
The firm said the device will also “identify the reasons why, for example, you are stuck in a traffic jam on the motorway, helping to combat the frustration and lack of information that can often result from delays during a journey”.
It can be used by car, van and truck drivers and sits on the dashboard using a magnetic base. A downloadable app for iPhone users will also be available soon.
Andrew Smith, managing director of Coyote distributor Cobra UK, said: “Not only does the Mini Coyote V2 alert you to safety camera locations, it also enables you to join the Coyote Community and support other road users with the very latest updates.
“Contributing in this way results in improved road safety information for the whole Coyote Community.”
