Fleet sales were up a fifth in March, with 164,250 fleet sales recorded compared to 135,809 units in the same month last year.

Renault fleet car sales rose by an impressive 187% year-on-year selling 8934 fleet cars compared to 3105 in March 2009.

Hyundai also saw a steep increase, with 4518 units sold, 163% up on the 1568 cars finding new homes from the previous year.

Volvo has also come on in leaps and bounds with sales up almost three quarters (3925 units) and Citroen has increased its fleet car sales by 50% selling 5813 cars in March.

Ford continues its staggering lead in the market, with 11128 Focuses sold in March, a 38% increase from 2009.

The Ford Fiesta continues its pattern of second place with 9577 sold, a 28% boost.

While Vauxhall cannot break the back of Ford, with its Astra in the third spot, it has increased sales of its most popular model by 83%, selling 8982 unit in last month.

Fourth-place VW Golf upped its sales by over 50% (6538 from 4277) and Peugeot‘s 207, in eighth place, increased its volume by 33% (3283 from 2474).

Only one car in the top ten, Vauxhall’s Corsa, saw a decline in sales – 4701 Corsas were sold in March 2010, compared to 6558 for the same month last year, a 28% drop.
