Business drivers holding BP or Texaco fuel cards will soon have access to up each other’s UK filling stations following a deal between BP and Texaco parent Chevron.

As a result of the alliance, drivers using BP Plus or Texaco The Business cards will be able to fill up at the rival firm’s sites, which totals more than 2200 locations from spring. BP drivers can also use the 800 Total filling stations under an existing arrangement with BP.

By “joining forces and extending the scale and reach of their networks” BP cardholders will have access to 1000 additional Texaco pumps and their counterparts with Texaco cards can benefit from using 1200 BP units.

Although Arval is the fuel card market leader, second-placed BP lays claim to the largest network of own-branded sites for car and van fleets and its fuel cards manager Ranjeev Baines said: “We are giving even more network convenience to fleets” and continuing to provide “the best combination of price, network security and management information.”

Karen Goane, Chevron’s fuel card sales manager, put particular emphasis on the “mutually beneficial arrangement” providing additional benefits for Texaco’s card-carrying small business operators through the ability to use the expanded retail network.

Chevron currently has 35,000 card holders while BP has 60,000 UK businesses using the card across 400,000 drivers.
