On a recent trip out of range for London’s many radio stations, it was time to play around with the Fiesta’s iPod connection settings.
Two points struck. One, the iPod cable supplied by Ford fits into both an aux and USB socket, but only the aux plug appeared to do anything. The USB didn’t charge the battery, though the Apple-issued cable did.
The more irritating gripe was the cable’s length – too short to sit the iPod in the mid-seat storage box but too stiff to pop in the cupholder.
Sound quality was good, but the controls were too fiddly to tempt me from a standard aux cable.
