Volvo‘s reduced-CO2 Driv-e label is to be extended to seven further models.
Stop-start tech is reducing the C30 to 104g/km from 115g/km and the S40/V50 siblings to 107g/km from 118g/km. Economy is up to 72.4 and 70.6mpg from 64.2 and 62.8mpg respectively.
The firm is also introducing a new lower-powered 109PS 1.6-litre diesel engine to the V70 and S80 ranges with CO2 of 129g/km. Although power is well down on Volvo’s German rivals, emissions will be class-leading in the exec segment.
Other developments will see both the XC60 small off-roader and XC70 soft-roader estate duck under the new all-important sub-161g/km capital allowance threshold at 159g/km thanks to the introduction of weight-saving front-wheel drive versions.
All the new models come to the UK in July, apart from the 1.6-litre V70 and S80 models that follow in September.
