BMW will reveal a concept of an additional model in the next generation 5-series’ line-up at the Geneva motor show next month.
Key to the concept, dubbed 5-series Gran Turismo, is a Skoda Superb-style boot which is able to open as a saloon or hatch.
The front of the new BMW 5-series concept follows the styling set by the latest generation 7-series.
BMW claims the incorporation of a hatchback design means boot space flexibility is increased, including a sliding rear seat bench, folding seats and a boot space ranging from 430 to 1650 litres.
The five metre long, concept 5-series Gran Turismo is expected to reach production as an addition to the 5-series range and could be on sale as soon as the end of 2010.
