Hyundai is planning a Mini-MPV to rival Nissan‘s Note and a new 4×4 to replace its outgoing Tucson.

The new MPV will be based on the underpinnings of the all-new i20 (pictured), which shares elements with the base used for the Kia Soul.

A company insider told BusinessCar that a concept version of the new small people carrier is likely to appear at the Geneva motor show in early March. The production version is further away, expected to hit showrooms in 2010.

The new 4×4 is also likely to appear in concept form at Geneva. It is expected to adopt Hyundai’s European new naming system, meaning that as it’s based on the i30 it is it is likely to be dubbed ix35.
