A new 3.0-litre diesel engine is making its way into Jaguar‘s executive XF.
The engine will be available in the XF in both 275PS and 240PS power output forms from March 2009, and will replace the 210PS 2.7-litre as the most powerful diesel in the car’s range.
Both versions of the 3.0-litre engine emit 179g/km of CO2 and manage an average fuel consumption of 42.0mpg – an improvement of 12% on the 2.7-litre diesel.
Despite the increase in efficiency, the 3.0-litre is quicker than the outgoing engine. The 275PS option sends the Jag to 60mph in 5.9secs, with its 240PS equivalent taking 6.7secs.
Jaguar has always planned to replace the 2.7-litre diesel with this 3.0-litre, which it claims will be one of the quietest on sale.
