Audi has abandoned its recent naming policy of having different number designations for electric and ICE models.
The manufacturer had been applying odd numbers to new ICE cars, and even numbers to EVs.
However, it said that following customer and dealer feedback, it would be moving away from this policy, starting with the new ICE-powered A6, due to be unveiled next month.
The policy does not apply retrospectively to models already on sale, such as the A5.
Audi board member for sales and management Marco Schubert said: “This decision is the result of intensive discussions and also follows the wishes of our customers as well as feedback from our international dealers.
“Our nomenclature now provides all customers worldwide with an intuitive orientation in our portfolio.
“We choose the names of our models in a way that reveals size and positioning at first glance.”
