Toyota has unveiled the Urban Cruiser, a new compact electric SUV.
The model revives the Urban Cruiser name which was previously applied to a small SUV sold here between 2008 and 2014, and has since been used by Toyota in other markets.
The new Urban Cruiser, which is slightly larger than Toyota’s Yaris Cross hybrid small SUV, will be available with a choice of 49kWh and 61kWh batteries, and with power outputs of 144hp, 174hp, or 184hp – the latter with all-wheel drive.
Based on a new dedicated EV platform, the model will feature a heat pump as standard.
Available on-board technology will include a 10.25in driver display, and a 10.1in infotainment screen with cloud-based sat-nav.
Depending on equipment grade, other features will include power driver’s seat adjustment, a JBL premium audio system, and a sunroof.
Standard driver assistance systems will include a pre-collision system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane keep assist, and a 360-degree camera system.
The model will also feature a sliding rear seat, designed to boost practicality.
The new Urban Cruiser will make its public debut at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, with the UK model launch scheduled for the third quarter of next year.
Full specs and prices are yet to be announced.
