A new white paper aiming to dispel ten common myths surrounding used electric vehicles has been published by the Vehicle Remarketing Association (VRA).
Entitled ‘EV Misconceptions’, the paper, written by battery electrochemist Dr Euan McTurk, covers topics including range, battery degradation, charging, running costs, pollution, insurance, and fire risk.
The white paper, available from the VRA’s website, is the fifth on the subject of EVs published by the organisation in the past year.
VRA chair Philip Nothard said: “Everyone working in remarketing knows that EVs attract a lot of misinformation, much of it largely inaccurate. Our aim with the new white paper is to create a document that gives people working in the used car and van sector the facts they need to reassure potential customers.
“It’s designed to be distributed throughout organisations and especially to sales and marketing teams, who are dealing with these types of objections to EVs from potential buyers on a daily basis.
“If everyone in our sector is going to make a success of electrification, we need to bust these myths.”
