Renault has unveiled its latest EV, the 4 E-Tech.

Following on from the 5 E-Tech, which is based on the same AmpR Small platform, the 4 is the latest model to take inspiration from a classic Renault, in this case the original 4 from the 1960s.

Renault says the new model is slightly bigger and roomier than the 5 E-Tech, comparing the size difference to that between its Captur SUV and Clio supermini.

Practicality features include a 420-litre boot, and not only a folding rear bench seat, but also a flat-folding front passenger seat.

Onboard technology includes the OpenR Link multimedia system with built-in Google services, and the ‘Reno’ virtual assistant.

There is a choice of 40kWh and 52kWh EV battery options, with the latter said to allow a range of up to 248 miles on the WLTP cycle. Electric motor outputs of 120hp and 150hp will be available.

Full UK specs and prices for the 4 E-Tech are yet to be announced.
