Renault has opened orders for a new plug-in hybrid version of its Rafale SUV-coupe.

The Rafale E-Tech 4WD 300 hp plug-in hybrid features a 150hp petrol engine and two electric motors – one on each axle – with a 22kWh battery that allows an EV-only range of up to 65 miles.

The powertrain, which incurs an 8% company car tax BIK rate, is available with two equipment grades – Techno Esprit Alpine, and Atelier Alpine.

Standard features of the Techno Esprit Alpine grade include 20in alloy wheels, matrix LED headlights, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, an electric tailgate, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 12.3in driver display, a 9.3in head-up display, a 12in infotainment screen with built-in Google, wireless phone charging, blind spot warning, lane departure warning with emergency lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control with speed limited and lane centring, active emergency braking, all-round parking sensors, and a reversing camera.

Further features of the Atelier Alpine grade include 21in alloy wheels, intelligent predictive variable damping, hands-free parking, a 360-degree camera system, a Solarbay opacifying panoramic sunroof, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

Prices start at £45,695 for the Techno Esprit Alpine grade, and £49,695 for the Atelier Alpine grade.
