Audi has unveiled the A6 E-Tron – its new, all-electric executive car.
The model will be available with a choice of Sportback hatch (pictured) and Avant estate bodystyles.
A 100kWh battery will allow a provisional range between charges of over 450 miles for the Sportback, and over 430 miles for the Avant. A maximum DC charging capacity of 270kW will allow up to 192 miles of range to be added in ten minutes.
Audi claims efficiency is boosted by an aerodynamic coefficient rating of 0.21 for the Sportback, which it says makes it the most aerodynamic Audi ever made (the Avant is rated at 0.24).
At launch, electric motor outputs of 367hp and 503hp will be available – the latter with the S6 performance variant.
Features of the A6 E-Tron’s design include second-generation virtual exterior mirrors, and a panoramic glass roof that becomes opaque at the touch of a button (both optional).
Other features include Android Auto-based infotainment, operated via a 14.5in touchscreen, 11.9in Virtual Cockpit display, and 10.9in front passenger screen.
The A6 E-Tron is the second Audi to be based on the company’s PPE platform – following on from the Q6 E-Tron SUV – and the first designed with a ‘flat floor’ concept.
UK orders for the A6 E-Tron will open on 2 September, when full specs and prices will also be announced.
