This first picture of the new C30 proves that Volvo has stayed true to the well-received concept revealed earlier this year.

The production version of Sweden’s Audi A3 or BMW 1-series rival arrives in the UK next January with a choice of engines that should mirror the S40/V50 line-up, from 109PS diesel and 100PS petrol 1.6-litre engines, through to the 180PS 2.4 D5 diesel and the 2.5-litre turbocharged 220PS petrol.

The car’s technically a two-door, with the glass tailgate providing a little retro innovation. Expect the C30 to start from just under £15,000.
