What’s new: Jacked-up version of the Renault Scenic five-seat Mini-MPV made to look like an off-roader (aping the previous generation Scenic RX4), but only front-wheel drive.
Excellent: Comfort levels are high and the extra ride height improves the already good ride quality of the standard Scenic. Looks the part, too, with unpainted plastic bumpers and side strips.
Good: It’s still the same, super-practical mini-MPV inside with folding/sliding chairs and plenty of boot space and cubby holes for storage.
Average: If you don’t need the extra ground clearance there are more cost-effective answers to the mini-MPV question.
Poor: It doesn’t have all-wheel-drive so you’ll come unstuck if friends think you can pull them out of the snow or off a grassy field after a wet sports day. Body roll also increases over the standard car thanks to the higher suspension.
Verdict: An interesting alternative to the mini-MPV game.
