Toyota has announced UK specs and prices for its new Prius Plug-in.
The model is returning to the UK market this Spring, having previously been discontinued here once production of the previous-generation version finished.
The new Prius Plug-in features a 223hp plug-in hybrid powertrain, with a 13.6kWh battery allowing an EV range of up to 53.4 miles.
Compared with the previous Prius, the height of the roof has been lowered by 50mm, which Toyota says gives more of a coupe look. The wheelbase is 50mm longer, yet the overall length of the car has been shortened by 46mm
Toyota also says a lower centre of gravity, helped by placing the EV battery under the rear seat and moving the fuel tank lower and further forward, contributes to enhanced driving dynamics and agility.
There will be a choice of two equipment grades – Design and Excel. Standard features of the Design grade will include 17in alloy wheels, smart entry, rear privacy glass, sat-nav, a digital driver display, parking sensors, dual-zone air conditioning, and the latest generation Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance package.
Further features of the Excel grade will include 19in alloy wheels, eight-way power adjustable front seats with memory setting and integrated heating and ventilation, and a digital rear-view mirror.
Prices will start at £37,315 for the Design grade, and rise to £39,955 for the Excel grade.
Orders will open on 4 March, with the first deliveries scheduled for July.
