The latest advisory fuel rates (AFRs) have been published by HMRC, with every rate increased.

Compared with the previous set of rates, that means a rise of between 1p and 3p per mile for each category of petrol, diesel, and LPG car.

In addition, the advisory electricity rate for full EVs has been increased for the first time since its introduction, and now stands at 5p per mile, a 1p increase.

Hybrids are treated as either petrol or diesel cars for AFR purposes.

The new rates will apply from 1 December, but the old rates can still be used for up to one month from that date.

The new rates per mile are as follows:

Petrol:

1,400cc or less: 13p (up 1p)

1,401cc to 2,000cc: 15p (up 1p)

Over 2,000cc: 22p (up 2p)

Diesel:

1,600cc or less: 11p (up 1p)

1,601cc to 2,000cc: 13p (up 1p)

Over 2,000cc: 16p (up 1p)

LPG:

1,400cc or less: 9p (up 2p)

1,401cc to 2,000cc: 10p (up 2p)

Over 2,000cc: 15p (up 3p)
