Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a petrol plug-in hybrid version of its E-Class executive saloon.
Badged E 300 e, it completes the E-Class hybrid range, following the introduction of the E 300 de diesel plug-in hybrid last month.
The new powertrain pairs a 2.0-litre, 211hp petrol engine with a 122hp electric motor.
It achieves an official combined fuel economy of 134.5mpg, with CO2 emissions of 46g/km.
The E 300 e has a 13.5kWh battery that gives it a fully electric range of 31 miles, and can be charged from 10% to 100% in less than two hours with a 7.4kW charger, or in less than four hours from a standard three-pin plug.
Two trim levels are available – SE, priced at £47,450, and AMG Line, priced at £49,945.
Order books are open now, with the first deliveries expected in the spring.
