Auction firm Aston Barclay has announced that used car purchases totalling £5 million have been made through its Buyer App during its first eight months of operation.
The company says more than 15% of all its online bids are being received via the app, which had its most successful month in March with 160 used cars bought. A recent buyer satisfaction survey also showed that buyers rated the app eight out of 10 for excellence, with 75% of respondents stating they would solely use digital platforms to source vehicles.
Version 11 of the app is now available, adding fingerprint login, enhanced search options and new vendor functions.
Aston Barclay CEO Neil Hodson said: “Used car buying patterns are changing and we are seeing buyers rely on their smartphone very heavily to run their businesses.
“The Buyer App kicked off our revolutionary digital strategy in July last year and according to buyers it has dramatically changed the way they access and source used stock.
“A total of 12% of buyers we surveyed stated they would rather receive app notifications as the preferred method of contact with our buyer services team.
“It is testament to our buyer services and IT teams that buyers have transitioned over £5 million of spend to a totally new channel.”
