Dacia has revealed an all-new version of the Duster crossover ahead of its unveiling at the Frankfurt motor show next month.
According to Renault’s value car arm, the new model is “more versatile than ever”, while the firm claimed the interior has been completely redesigned.
Details of the new model are thin on the ground, but at the front the firm has extended the car’s grille in order to make it appear wider. The Duster now also features LED daytime running lights.
The windscreen has also been brought forward by 100mm compared with the current model and is more steeply raked, which the firm said makes the cabin look more spacious, while at the rear the lights have been positioned at the corners “to heighten the car’s solid stance”.
Inside, Dacia claims the model will come with new equipment and a “host of other new features,” which are set to be revealed in Frankfurt.
In the first seven months of 2017, Dacia registered 15,847 vehicles, a rise of 6.8% compared with the same period last year. This is in stark contrast to the overall market, which has experienced declines for four months in a row thanks to a number of factors, including the new, harsher VED regime that came into force in April and economic uncertainty arising from Brexit.
The current version of the Duster is priced from £9,420. It is powered by a 115hp 1.6-litre petrol engine that emits 145g/km of CO2 and returns 44.1mpg, placing it in the 28% 2017/18 benefit-in-kind (BIK) band.
A more frugal version is powered by a 1.5-litre 109hp diesel unit that emits 115g/km of CO2 and returns 64.2mpg, placing the model in the 25% 2017/18 BIK band.
