Every public sector ambulance will now fit Michelin tyres after a new fleet deal was signed with the French tyre manufacturer.
All 10 NHS ambulance services in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are taking on the tyres under the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Supply and Fit Tyres framework.
The CCS agreement supports public bodies to save the taxpayer money by buying products and services in bulk.
Under the agreement, fast-fitter ATS Euromaster will handle the tyre distribution and fitting requirements for NHS services in England, Scotland and Wales, while the Northern Irish ambulance service’s tyre needs will be taken care of by Modern Tyre Group.
NHS ambulances will fit a range of tyres to their cars, 4x4s and light commercial vehicles, including the firm’s CrossClimate+ tyres, which are designed to work throughout the year.
“By fitting Michelin, ambulance services are benefiting from tyres which deliver the optimum blend of performance over a long life, reducing fleet operating costs and the downtime associated with tyre replacement,” said Jonathan Layton, Michelin’s head of fleet. “Plus, Michelin tyres provide excellent safety and mobility year-round – a factor appreciated by ambulance crews, especially during the winter months.”
He added: “We’re very proud to be first-choice fitment – and to know our tyres are helping save lives around the country every single day.”
