The Association of Car Fleet Operators has joined a new global fleet body in order to promote best practice internationally.
Known as the Fleet Consortium Network, the group consists of the US-based Automotive Fleet and Leasing Association, the Australasian Fleet Management Association, Mexico-based Asociacion Mexicana de Arrendadoras de Vehiculos and the China Road Transport Association.
It is also hoped the Indian Vehicle Operating Lease Organisation will join the group.
The consortium is set to meet for the first time In Florida in June, with discussions focusing on initiatives to be adopted.
By joining the group, ACFO has agreed to support other member conferences and promote them to its database, and exchange local fleet market information and best-practice tips.
It is also hoped that tours could be held in the future enabling key fleet players to better understand overseas fleet markets.
“Technology is rapidly shrinking the world and in the developing age of business mobility, connectivity, ‘big data’ and autonomous vehicles, global boundaries will increasingly disappear,” said John Pryor, ACFO chairman. “Many of the issues confronting fleet decision-makers in the UK will be the same as those being tackled in the United States of America, Australia, Mexico, China and India, so it makes logical sense to pool our collective knowledge, experiences and advice and communicate best fleet management practice worldwide.”
