Volkswagen has revealed the first pictures of its new large Crafter van, which will go on sale in the autumn after making its debut at the Hanover commercial vehicle show in September.

The latest Crafter is a VW-developed product, built at its new plant in Wrzesnia, Poland, and succeeds the previous-generation model that was based on the Mercedes Sprinter.

Side

VW claimed it consulted its current LCV customers to gauge their requirements in working out the design of the new van. The new Crafter will come in three wheelbases, three roof heights and as a single- and double-cab chassis cab. A 2.0-litre diesel engine with outputs from 102hp to 180hp will power the van.

Rear

The manufacturer said the forthcoming model will be available in front-, rear- and four-wheel drive and with the choice of manual and automatic transmissions.
