Risk management company Driver Monitor has teamed up with Shoosmiths Solicitors to run a free mock trial during the Safety & Health expo in London (21-23 June).
The live sessions will feature a company manager being questioned, a cross-examination and a barrister adjudicating proceedings, allowing delegates to see first-hand how businesses would be investigated in court.
“This is a great opportunity for Fleet and Health & Safety managers to come and view a real example of how these cases would be handled,” said Kevin Curtis, director of Driving Monitor. “This year we’re focusing on the grey fleet driver, and what a company would be expected to do to ensure employee vehicles are safe – even if they do not have any ownership or maintenance of those vehicles.”
“We find in most cases when speaking with new customers that the driver policy for managing grey fleet drivers is dealt with differently than say company car drivers,” he added. “This mock trial gives a real insight into the actual best practices a company needs to follow and what checks and measures need to be in place to ensure they cover their duty-of-care.”
