Remember the orange, spanner-shaped warning light that appeared in the instrument panel some 6000 miles ahead of the CX-3’s scheduled 12,000-mile service? Well, as promised, I visited a Mazda dealer – T W White & Sons in Orpington, Kent – and can report that it is no longer glowing.

The issue was resolved promptly. Having arrived, as they’d suggested, without an appointment, I was invited to take a seat in the waiting area, and was just 10 minutes into that morning’s episode of Rip Off Britain when it was time to return to the office.

Apart from two occasions when the light has shone briefly, making me think another dealer trip might be needed, the fault seems to have been fixed.
