A new industry body made up of suppliers and operators in the fleet industry has formed to improve standards around the use of fleet data.
The new body, called Fleet Data Insight, has been founded by TomTom Telematics and includes Zurich, the FTA and the Energy Saving Trust.
The body will meet twice a year and will be creating free best practice advice guides for the fleet industry around using data to run fleets.
The meetings will be led independently by consultancy service Real World Strategy.
The first forum meeting took place in September last year and focused on using data to manage risk.
Attendees included fleet professionals from Skanska, Sainsbury’s, Iron Mountain, Fife Council, BT Fleet and Waitrose.
“The core ethos of Fleet Data Insight is to co-create value and best practice for the industry, by the industry and to promote excellence in data-driven fleet management” said Peter Button, chairman, Fleet Data Insight.
“A vast amount of data is now available to fleet managers, so it is essential they are provided with the right guidance and advice to enable them to get the most out of it,” said Irvin Gray, senior marketing manager, TomTom Telematics.
Fleet operators are being invited to join in the discussion with Fleet Data Insight through its Linked In group discussion.
